Paint Correction

Paint correction is the process of properly machine polishing paintwork to remove microscopic defects such as swirl marks, scratches, oxidation, water marks and hazing. By using compounds and polishes, the surface can be refined to remove the old defected top layer of paintwork and expose fresh paint from underneath. On modern clear coated vehicles with very thin paintwork, this process can become a very careful art form to not only preserve as much original paintwork as possible, but to also create a mirror like finish.

Enhancement Package [1 Stage Paint Correction]

With age, every vehicle starts losing gloss in the paintwork due to wash marks (AKA swirl marks), oxidation and water marks. Our Enhancement Package allows us to permanently remove these imperfections and dramatically increase the gloss and depth of the paintwork. Most owners do not realise how much their paint work has aged until we show them a 50:50 tape line. Depending on the condition of the paintwork a single stage of correction is all that most vehicles need. Due to years of experience and testing doing paint correction on nearly a daily basis, we can can achieve extremely good correction  with just a single pad and polish combination.

Exterior of vehicle hand washed with a strip wash and a microfibre wash mitt.
A slightly alkaline based shampoo is used to strip the paintwork of any old waxes and sealants.

A mild claying of the vehicle is performed to decontaminate the surface.
A mild clay bar removes built up contamination and overspray to ensure we have a smooth surface for machine polishing.

Wheels and tyres cleaned with a variety of brushes and tyres dressed with a water based tyre gel.
Removes brake dust and tyre shine doesn’t splatter from the vehicle.

Vehicle dried with a plush microfibre drying towel and air dryed with heated air.
By blowing all the water out from crevices we ensure our customers don’t get drip lines and water marks.

A test spot is performed on the vehicle to determine an effective pad and polish combination.
This is to select an effective polish that gives adequate cutting ability while still finishing off in a high gloss in a single step.

Whole vehicle is machine polished with this pad and polish combination.
Will remove light swirl marks, light water marks and minor paint imperfections to finish off in a high gloss.

Paintwork is protected with a paint sealant for protection.
Premium polymer sealants will usually give 6+ months of elemental protection to the vehicle.

Full Paint Correction [2-3 Stage Paint Correction]

For enthusiasts that want the best possible gloss and depth from their vehicle’s paintwork, a multiple stage paint correction is a must, especially on dark coloured paintwork which shows the imperfections in the clear coat much easier than lighter coloured vehicles. By splitting up the correction into two or three stages, deeper imperfections can be removed such as severe swirl marks from bad washing (brush at the car wash), severe oxidation or deep water mark etching.
