Vehicle: 2007 Hummer H3
Package: Paint Correction + Gyeon Quartz Coating
Condition: The Hummer suffered from moderate swirl marks throughout the black paintwork and had severe oxidation on all of the guards.
Process: It was discovered during measuring the paint depth and doing test spots that H3 Hummers actually have two different paint systems on them. A basecoat/clearcoat system on all of the metal metals however a single stage (most likely acrylic) is on all of the plastic guards. This explained the severe oxidation on all of the guards. The vehicle arrived very clean and had some form of glaze or sealant applied to it which was noticeable when water hit the paint. The vehicle was washed with the two bucket method with a alkaline shampoo solution to help breakdown the glaze/sealant and then clayed. Once dried the vehicle was taped up and a two stage paint correction performed using Menzerna compounds and polishes to remove all the paint defects.
Once corrected the vehicle was wiped down with Gyeon Prep to remove any polish residue and give a clean surface for the Quartz coating to bond to. After the three stage coating was applied over a 24 hour period, Dodo Juice carnauba wax was applied on the top just for that extra little bit of gloss! Gyeon Trim was also applied to all the external plastics. One glossy Humvee!
